Hi, my name is Theresa, and contrary to what I would like to believe, I’m not Kardashian. Major disappointment for me. A major relief for the Kardashians, probably. Either way, I still hope Kris Jenner adopts me. In the meantime, though, I’m spending my time trying out products the Kardashians use that will hopefully make me at least feel like family. And while I might not be a member of the Kardashian lineage, my review of MZ Skin’s Hydra-Bright Golden Eye Treatment Mask made me feel like I was a celebrity, and my under-eyes deserved their own reality show.
MZ Skin is a skin care brand founded by Dr Maryam Zamani. Originally from London, England, Dr Zamani is an oculoplastic surgeon and cosmetic facial doctor, which means she knows a thing or two about the face and how it looks. (@Dr. Zamani, please help me.) While MZ Skin packs all of your proven skin basics – moisturizers, cleansers, serums, and masks – perhaps the most buzzy product in the line is be their Insta-viral Hydra-Bright Golden Eye Treatment Mask ($ 106 for a pack of five, mzskin.com).
The mask, formulated with “anti-aging actives”, is designed to provide intense hydration to your eyes, while improving their elasticity, firmness and the appearance of dark circles. It also helps eliminate puffiness and reduce the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles. Now, I’m not a ‘make a will and go buy some coffins’ type, but let’s just say if you zoom in on my crow’s feet you will see that they spell ‘AF stressed’.
Also, when MZ Skin says golden, it means golden. Not only are the under-eye masks a brilliant AF gold color, but they’re infused with gold nanoparticles to give your eyes a brighter, more radiant glow … you know, so you look like ” get a cool eight hours of sleep and not like you’re up until 3 a.m. watching clips of keeping up with the Kardashians. (Anyone? Anyone? No? OK.)
You’re probably wondering why I keep making references to Kardashian. First, it’s just who I am as a person. Second, according to the brand, these golden eye masks have a number of famous users including Adriana Lima, Camila Cabello, and none other than IMHO the most interesting Kardashian to watch, Kourtney Kardashian. It makes sense that celebrities are in these masks. The surge of hyaluronic acid and collagen in the masks gives dry, sleep-deprived eyes that probably haven’t rested for 14 hours a quick and easy wake-up call in the form of an overall glow and glow.
While I might not be in the jet-set world like a celebrity (plane tickets are expensive and I have $ 20 to my name), the dark, swollen dark circles under my eyes tell me the contrary. So naturally, I was delighted to try the golden eye masks. Everything to bring me a little closer to feeling like a Kardashian.
Fortunately, the masks come in a vacuum-packed liquid-filled package (to keep them infused with moisture), so you can take them anywhere. While a celebrity might toss a bag in her bag to use while lounging on a private jet, I kept mine in my hand and took it to my bathroom. Same thing, right?
For reference, here is what my eyes looked like before using the masks (sexy !!!!!!):
As you can see my dark eyes and bags are ready to party anytime. So after washing my face with my cleanser of choice, I carefully tore off the pack of golden eye masks and started. Immediately I noticed that each mask had an almost gelatinous texture, which was both oddly satisfying and made me TF. I also noticed that each mask was indeed wet, but not as saturated as, say, a sheet mask, making it a lot easier to handle on the go.
I placed each mask directly under my eyes, with the thinnest end of the mask closest to my nose. The instructions say to leave the masks on for 15 minutes, and for the next 15 minutes I looked at myself in the mirror, imagining what it would be like to be a strong, wealthy AF businesswoman who also stars on a TV show. reality show with her famous siblings and has three beautiful children. You know, the usual.
For yet another reference, here’s what the eye masks look like on me:
As I mentioned just above, the masks weren’t at all as saturated as a sheet mask, so I felt free to go about my business normally without worrying about sticky moisture dripping onto it. my face and my neck. After the 15 minutes had passed, I said goodbye to the gold jelly under my eyes and lightly rinsed my eyes with water as the instructions suggest. Finally, I wiped my face, looked at myself in the mirror and almost peed after realizing that I had become Kourtney Kardashian …
… OK, obviously that didn’t happen, but I noticed that the bags under my eyes had eased a bit, as had the darkness. While masks don’t necessarily banish these things completely, I thought the difference was actually good enough for a one-time first use, and could tell my under-eyes felt a lot more hydrated, which is always a good thing. .
Use the balayage tool below to feast your eyes on the end result:
The brand suggests putting the masks in the fridge for about five to 10 minutes before using them if you want to feel a pleasant cooling sensation while you mask. I would venture to say that the freshness of the masks could also help even more when it comes to their deflating abilities.
Overall, am I a Kardashian now? LOL, no I never will. But did I feel as cool as one wearing an eye mask infused with gold particles? You bet I did. Whether you are running like crazy one day and need a quick way to freshen your eyes or have a lazy day at home but still want to be pampered, the golden eye masks from MZ Skin are, indeed, an easy way to brighten up your eyes.
