Gombe First Lady facilitates eye treatment for 3,000 beneficiaries
No less than 3,000 patients in Gombe receive free eye care in ongoing cataract surgery departments.
The services were organized by the First Lady of Gombe State through her Jewel Care Foundation in collaboration with Qatar Charity and Future Leaders Foundation.
The governor’s wife, Asma’u Yahaya, said on Saturday that the initiative had become imperative due to the various eye problems of residents of the state.
She expressed concern over the increase in the number of eye diseases, calling on the citizens of the state to seize this opportunity.
Yahaya said, “There is a need for people to take advantage of this opportunity to improve their health.
“2,000 patients will receive treatment, medication for various eye conditions, 800 glasses will be issued to those in need, and more than 300 cataract patients will undergo surgery.”
According to the governor’s wife, the week-long medical outreach scheduled for March 24-30, 2022 will include patient screening exercises at all three general hospitals.
In June 2021, a similar exercise was conducted by the First Lady’s Foundation in partnership with Qatar Charity and the Future Leaders Foundation, which benefited over 2,000 people.
