Fundraising by Malorie Lewis: Bara’s Eye Surgery

[ad_1]

Hi there! My name is Malorie Lewis and I am creating this campaign to help a very dear friend who lives in Palestine. Her son has an eye disease known as strabismus.

Strabismus – also known as hypertropia and crossed eyes – is a misalignment of the eyes, causing one eye to deviate inward (esotropia) toward the nose or outward (exotropia), while that the other eye stays focused. Misalignment can occur from time to time in newborns, especially if they are tired, but they should grow out of it in three months. In children, an uncorrected strabismus can lead to amblyopia, a condition in which the brain begins to ignore signals sent by the weaker, misaligned eye that leads to vision problems. In some children, strabismus is one of many manifestations of other medical conditions, including traumatic brain injury, retinopathy of prematurity, retinoblastoma, cerebral palsy, and others.

Proceeds will go to my friend Ahmad AlGhallasi, a Palestinian from Bethlehem. In addition, the campaign will cover the cost of surgery, office consultations and follow-up appointments.

A little about Bara! He’s a happy nine-year-old boy. He lives with his mother in Nablus. He likes to play football and swim, like most young boys! But, unfortunately, his eye condition limits his ability to do the things he loves.

He is also brilliant! His teachers always brag about his math skills. Another unfortunate side effect of his condition is that he is bullied by his classmates. Her condition, as seen in her photos, is causing her eyes to misalign. As a result, his classmates make fun of him and shun him socially. This made her dread going to school.

Here is a short letter from his father, Ahmad, detailing his experience and struggle to help his son recover.

As a father, I sacrifice myself for my son in everything I do, and it has become a dream for me to see him recover. Unfortunately, my 9 year old son was diagnosed with strabismus at birth. I used to take him to the doctor every month to check his eyes, and he has been receiving treatment for a long time / since birth, but unfortunately nothing new has changed / happened in their eyes ; Finally, the doctor decided to have him operated. Eye muscle surgery.

I am creating this campaign for this little child who needs eye surgery and needs ongoing treatment and monthly hospital visits. I’m here to ask for your help in raising funds to pay for my son’s eye surgery and hospital bills.

I kindly appreciate your help

Thanks a lot,

Ahmad Al Ghallasi

Any help is highly appreciated. Help this young boy get surgery. It will literally change his whole view of the world. If you are unable to donate, please share this campaign!

Thanks in advance!
