Best EYE TREATMENT I’ve ever had – and I’ve tried lots of treatments!

Back when I worked in spas and clinics as an esthetician (many moons ago…) eye treatments weren’t great – and that’s being polite. Product houses would create “eye” protocols for salons, which essentially consisted of a mini-facial around the eyes with an extended lymphatic drainage massage. As a therapist, I used to dread clients signing up for eye treatment because I always felt like they would be disappointed afterwards, no matter how much care and attention I granted them, we couldn’t do much with the products and technology we had at the time.

Well, one therapist who doesn’t have to worry about disappointing her clients is a lady named Nuria Maestro-Perez (Maestro by name, Maestro by nature) at the Cosmetica Clinic in Balham. To be honest, Nuria is so good that I almost didn’t want to mention her by name for fear of not being able to get dates with her in the future. Seriously.

Nuria herself designed the treatment for Cosmetica to address dark circles, puffiness, wrinkles, dehydration and sagging skin, this includes (but is not limited to); cleansing and exfoliation around the eyes with the famous Hydra Facial, complete facial cleansing and chemical peeling (not with Hydra Facial), laser treatment (completely painless and safe for the eye area), light therapy with LED for the whole face and above all, the Nano Soft Pen which injects hyaluronic acid, peptides and amino acids into the delicate skin around the eyes – and I mean right around the eyes! This is the most comprehensive non-surgical eye treatment you can try! The Nano Soft pen has 3 fine needles that Nuria pushes gently into the skin. It’s soft but I can’t say that this part doesn’t hurt! I found it quite bearable but not particularly pleasant. The needling is amazing though; it falls somewhere between mesotherapy (injectable vitamins – deep into the skin using a large needle) and Profhilo (mobile hyaluronic acid that draws moisture to the skin) but the latter causes much less (the if necessary) of eye trauma that mesotherapy can . Immediately after the treatment you will probably look a bit like Star Trek with small pale bumps all around the injection sites (definitely bring sunglasses with you to your appointment whatever the weather!) and you might be a little swollen for up to 24 hours after, but I can promise you it’s 100% worth it.

Before Covid I could give or take under eye concealer – some days I used it, and some days I didn’t. Dark circles just weren’t an issue for me. However, after the stress of the past few years, I have become very dark under my eyes. I’m also 42 and I burn candles at both ends so naturally I’ve started to develop fine lines from dehydration and my eyes are starting to look more sunken now too (giving the illusion of darkness under the eyes ) but after just one treatment, the improvements were amazing! You have near-instant results with fine lines from the massive (and deep) moisture hit – these results continue to improve over time as the peptides do their job, but it’s the improvement in dark circles that floored me (in fact, I still can’t believe it!). Cosmetica recommends that you have 3 treatments spaced 2 weeks apart for best results – this is not a marketing plan – you are building on hyaluronic acid, locking in hydration and essentially “feeding” this delicate and laborious area of the skin to recover it at its best. After my second treatment, I didn’t look as Star Trek as I did on my first treatment due to the already increased hydration level (so the pale lumps were less noticeable) and the puffiness also went down much faster. It really is an amazing treatment that I would recommend to anyone concerned with the eye area (all of us?!).

As for Cosmetica, it’s a great little find; it has all the warmth and friendliness of a local salon, plus doctor-led adjustments and the most advanced beauty treatments, all in their own Cosmetica style.

I will definitely be back for more (if I can get an appointment…).
