Biakoye residents get free eye surgery

Mr. Kwadwo Nyanpon Aboagye, MP for Biakoye, Oti Region, arranged free eye screening and surgery for some members of the constituency.
He said 2,785 out of 2,965 people, who availed themselves of the eye screening, received free medicine while 574 received free eye lenses, and 316 successfully underwent surgery at the government hospital. from Worawora.
Mr Aboagye told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that cataract has been identified as the main prevalent disease for those who have undergone surgery and regained their sight.
Besides the medical supplies he sponsored, he took care of the accommodation, transport and food of the medical team and the patients.
Mr Aboagye said he was motivated by the outcome of previous health screening exercises he had conducted for his people since becoming an MP.
He praised the doctors and nurses at Friends Eye Center for dedicating their time to helping his constituents.
In the same fiscal year in 2021, some 1,700 people were screened while 988 received medication and 352 underwent surgery.
Beneficiaries praised the MP for his benevolence.
