As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), an underwriting company, AIICO Insurance Plc and Indo-Eye Care Foundation, performed free eye surgery for 2,000 Lagos residents.

Since 2007, the foundation has made it an annual event to perform between 2,000 and 2,500 free eye surgeries for people and has achieved similar numbers in the current year.

Speaking at the Sharad Purnima Dandiya 2022 event in Lagos, AIICO Insurance Managing Director/Managing Director Babatunde Fajemirokun said the underwriter has offered to help the less privileged regain their sight through the support that brought to Indo-Eye Care Foundation.

Fajemirokun, who was represented by AIICO Insurance communications manager Ademola Adenekan, said the gesture was part of the company’s CSR towards communities and humanity, pledging that the company will continue to help less privileged through similar initiatives. He said that the management of the underwriting company was happy that thanks to his gesture, more blind people could regain their sight.

President of Gujarati Samaj, Tanna Shailesh has revealed that through Indo-Eye Care Foundation Indian doctors were able to perform 25,000 eye surgeries at Marina General Hospital in 2021.
